Welcome to Gauri's homepage
Namaskar folks, allow me to start off with the Puneri kasa kai? I am Gauri, better
known as `Jeru', after the Tom and Jerry cartoon, which I absolutely adore. While
others stuff themselves on TV, radio, audio and (computers) comps, I cram myself
to the brim with books of fiction, non fiction, philosophy, chess, cinema reviews,
competitions, and whatever looks good on the cover (the back not the front). They
say never judge a book by its cover, I couldn't agree more. If a book has a fantastic
model on the cover, you can bet there is a very good reason, looks are deceptive, it
is completely unreadable. What I love most of all are Mills and Boons, and Sundays
will see me curled up with one, dreaming of that ONE who will carry me off into the
sunset, for a glorious honeymoon in Andaman and Nicobar islands, (I absolutely
insist) or maybe Switzerland, if he is rich enough or the moon if he happens to be
the president, you never know. But then if wishes were horses beggars would be
kings and all that.
Another passion is chess, and thrashing an opponent tactically on the chessboard isalways my secret ambition. (I am not the violent Bruce Lee kinda person), though I
did earn the odd bronze medal in Taekwondo (a close cousin of karate) and I do
hold a green belt in the same. I reached the pinnacle of chess contentment when I
represented the state of Maharashtra at the national level from 92 to 95. I could
have aimed for the WGM or something, but then fate intervened and I decided to
try my hand at writing.
Writing is my new life as of today. I practice writing as many forms as I know, but
what I love most is fiction writing. I have published around 6 stories, and have a
few unpublished ones. I am now writing a novel, and have made headway of
around 24 pages. My inspiration has deserted me, please do help with your
suggestions at gaurighatnekar@hotmail.com I aim to master writing in all its forms,
be it plays, which I have never written, or poetry, which I have entered a few
contests, and published in leading newspapers, or screen writing and technical
writing. Writing for computers is something that I aim to absolutely perfect one
day and earn a pile of money in the process, or write that one fantabulous
(fantastic and fabulous) ad (advertisement), that will make me the next David
Ogilvy of at least Vishrantwadi.
